You can reach our friendly customer support team via email atย support@thebyobproject.com. Weโre available Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM EST.
Do you have a physical store location?
We donโt have our own physical store, but you can find BYOB at Radical Dough โ located in Serenbe, a sustainable living community nestled in South Atlanta. Itโs the perfect place for BYOB, surrounded by people who share our passion for eco-conscious living.
What is BYOB made of?
BYOB is made from platinum-cured LFGB-certified silicone, the highest food safety standard in the world. Unlike standard FDA-grade silicone, LFGB silicone is tested under strict European food-contact regulations to ensure itโs completely free from fillers, odors, microplastics, and harmful chemicals.
The material itself is European-grade platinum silicone developed by a respected Norwegian company, known globally for its responsible manufacturing and environmental standards. Itโs molded in a certified facility in China that operates under fair labor and environmental management systems, and every batch is independently tested by international laboratories to verify full LFGB compliance.
In short โ BYOB is crafted from European-grade platinum silicone thatโs safe, sustainable, and built to last, without leaching microplastics or toxins into your food.
Why doesnโt BYOB have a California Prop 65 warning?
Prop 65 warnings are required for products that contain certain chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm.
BYOB containers are made from LFGB-certified platinum silicone, a European-grade material that exceeds FDA standards. Independent testing confirmed that BYOBโs silicone is free from common Prop 65-listed substances, including lead, cadmium, mercury, BPA, BPS, and phthalates.
Because these substances are not found in our materials, a Prop 65 warning isnโt required. You can safely use BYOB for heating, storing, and carrying food knowing itโs non-toxic, microplastic-free, and held to the worldโs highest safety standards.
How do I prevent my BYOB from collapsing on my food?
If your BYOB collapses too easily, itโs usually because the lid isnโt fully sealed all the way around. To create a sturdy, airtight seal, make sure you press along each edge until you feel a little โbubbleโ of resistance โ thatโs how you know itโs completely closed. Once sealed, the container locks into shape and your food stays protected from pressure or spills. This technique is what we call โThe BYOB Pinch.โ
Where is BYOB manufactured?
BYOB is made from European-grade silicone developed by a Norwegian materials company recognized worldwide for its environmental responsibility and advanced food-safety technology.
The silicone is LFGB-certified, meeting strict European standards for non-toxicity and purity. Once the material is produced, each BYOB is assembled and molded in a certified facility in China that follows ethical labor practices, environmental management systems, and rigorous quality control.
This partnership allows us to maintain the highest safety and sustainability standards while keeping BYOB accessible to more people around the world.
What makes BYOB better than other collapsible containers?
Unlike cheap silicone or plastic options, BYOB is made from premium LFGB platinum silicone โ a safer, longer-lasting material thatโs free of BPA, BPS, and microplastics. Itโs designed to replace hundreds of single-use takeout boxes while still looking beautiful and fitting easily into your bag or drawer. With its attached lid, airtight seal, and collapsible design, BYOB is built for real life โ from restaurant leftovers to organized home storage.
Is it hard to remember to bring my BYOB with me?
Not at all! BYOB was designed to make reusable takeout containers easy to remember and even easier to carry. It collapses flat to about one inch, so it fits perfectly in your purse, backpack, glove box, or lunch bag โ always ready when you need it.
Many customers keep four BYOBs in rotation โ usually two on the go, one in the fridge with leftovers, and one in the dishwasher. That way, thereโs always a clean one handy when you head out.
Once you start using BYOB, it quickly becomes second nature โ just like carrying your reusable water bottle or grocery bags.
Are BYOB containers biodegradable? How do I dispose of them sustainably?
BYOB containers are made fromย premium LFGB-certified platinum silicone, which is designed to last forย many years of daily use. Because high-quality silicone doesnโt break down like plastic, BYOB isย not biodegradableย โ and thatโs actually what makes it a safe, durable, and microplastic-free alternative to disposable products.
However, if you ever reach the end of your BYOBโs life, we offer aย sustainable take-back program. You can return your container to us, and we will send it throughย TerraCycle, where the silicone is processed and given aย second lifeย instead of going to landfill.
This means your BYOB stays out of the waste stream and becomes part of aย closed-loop recycling systemย โ one of the most eco-friendly ways to handle silicone at the end of its life.
If youโd like to recycle your BYOB through our program, simply email us atย info@thebyobproject.comย and weโll share the quick return instructions.
